Murat Polat, 42, of North Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States and his wife got married in 2022. She is currently pregnant.
On the evening of August 12, 2023, Polat and his wife were at the Publix supermarket in Sunny Isles Beach, Miami-Dade County. While in the parking lot, he intentionally struck her, a witness told Sunny Isles Beach Police Department officers.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel checked on Polat’s wife. She had not suffered any visible injuries, according to the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department.
Shortly before 9:00 p.m., Polat was arrested. He was booked into the Miami Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Center in Miami, Miami-Dade County.
On August 13, 2023, Polat appeared in court. A judge ordered him to stay away from his wife.
George W. Jenkins founded Publix in Winter Haven, Pol County, Florida on September 6, 1930. Based in Lakeland, Polk County, the supermarket chain currently has 1,349 store locations.
Jenkins was born in Warm Springs, Meriwether County, Georgia, USA. On April 8, 1996, he died in Lakeland at age 88.
