Alejandro Pixtun Hernandez, 56, was born in San Pedro Ayampuc, Guatemala. For almost nine years, he was an international fugitive hiding in New York, United States.
On March 24, 2014, Guatemalan officials issued an arrest warrant for Pixtun for aggravated rape in a continuous manner and with special aggravating circumstances. After entering the U.S. illegally, he was arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol near Falfurrias, Texas, USA on October 9, 2014.
Pixtun was served a notice and order of expedited removal. On October 14, 2014, he was removed to Guatemala by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), a component of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
On an unknown date and at an unknown location, Pixtun illegally entered the U.S. again. On November 18, 2021, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) issued a Red Notice indicating he was wanted by authorities in Guatemala for aggravated rape in a continuous manner and with special aggravating circumstances.
On August 10, 2023, Pixtun was arrested without incident in New York, USA by officers from ERO’s field office in New York City, New York. He will remain in custody without bond pending removal to Guatemala.
ERO’s New York City field office director Kenneth Genalo stated that the arrest of Pixtun is reflective of their ongoing commitment to prioritize enforcement and removal efforts against unlawfully present noncitizens who pose a threat to public safety. Genalo added, “Our targeted immigration enforcement efforts ensure safer communities for our fellow citizens by apprehending dangerous criminals, especially those who mistakenly believe fleeing to the United States will help them evade justice in their home country.”
