Anthony Romero Shoemaker, 52, of Las Cruces, Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States is an English and Spanish linguist, translator and interpreter. She has lived in different parts of Texas, USA including El Paso and Dallas and different parts of Colorado, USA including Arvada and Lakewood.
In January 1995, Shoemaker joined MySpanishUSA as a Spanish-English translation specialist. From July 1995 to June 1997, she worked for the Adams County School District in Commerce City, Colorado as an adult literacy coordinator.
From September 2000 to June 2015, Shoemaker worked for the Jefferson County Public Schools in Golden, Colorado as a bilingual district liaison. He worked for the district as an adult English as a second language (ESL) instructor from January 2015 to December 2017 and a district Spanish translator from July 2015 to August 2018.
In August 2019, Shoemaker joined the Las Cruces Public Schools as a district Spanish translator. In August 2020, he became a general education development (GED) instructor in the district.
From 2020 to 2023, Shoemaker allegedly sexually abused three children in Las Cruces. The alleged victims range in age from 5 to 12 years old.
On August 15, 2023, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau started investigating the allegations against Shoemaker. After an extensive investigation, including multiple forensic interviews, agents arrested him.
Shoemaker was charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and sexual exploitation of children. He is also facing multiple counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor.
