The 121st edition of the Missouri State Fair started in Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri, United States on August 10, 2023. The state’s annual agricultural showcase will end on August 20, 2023.
Amid the celebration, several agencies collaborated to combat human trafficking in Sedalia. In cooperation with the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office in Sedalia, the Sedalia Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, Missouri Information Analysis Center and Homeland Security Investigations conducted a covert operation on August 17, 2023.
During the operation, detectives used covert surveillance, undercover officers and electronic communications in an undisclosed location in Sedalia to collect evidence. They located and arrested four suspects without incident.
The suspects are accused of patronizing prostitution. Here are the arrestees:
- Donald Reece, 62, Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri
- Keith Haslag, 51, Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri
- Timothy Sinn, 44, Versailles, Morgan County, Missouri
- James Deer, 39, Columbia, Boone County, Missouri




Sedalia was founded in 1857 and incorporated in 1860. It is the county seat of Pettis County.
Former Pittsburg State Gorillas head coach Kim Anderson, 68, was born in Sedalia. Andrew L. Dawson, 42, is the incumbent mayor of the city.
