Lia Claxton biography: 13 things about Miss Universe British Virgin Islands 2022

Lia Rayne Claxton is an athlete, a model and a beauty queen from Tortola, British Virgin Islands. She has two older sisters namely Lakiesha Claxton and Natisha Claxton, who are identical twins, and one younger brother named Mychael Claxton. 

Lia is into track and field, music, fashion and health and she enjoys modeling and playing the piano. Here are 13 more things about her:

1. She was born in Long Look, Tortola to Shawn Claxton and Tessa Smith-Claxton.
2. In February 2020, the Faces of Gemini Modeling took to Instagram to share photos of nine models including her and Xaria Penn.
3. On August 9, 2020, she and 35 other students graduated from the BVI Seventh Day Adventist School in Tortola. She was the salutatorian.  
4. On November 14, 2020, she and her fellow Team Talent X runners Jelani Croal and Rashawn Jack finished fourth at the Elite Relay Exchange in the 25th edition of the Mourant H. Lavity Stoutt Community College Classics Finale in Paraquita Bay, Tortola. She earned an associate’s degree in humanities from the school.

7. On September 25, 2021, she, Penn and Kasaddi Chalwell competed for the Miss Universe British Virgin Islands 2021 title. Penn won the title.
8. On October 9, 2021, she finished second among all the female participants of the Open 2 Mile races of the Mourant HLSCC College Classic Series in Paraquita Bay.
9. On October 15, 2022, she was officially appointed as Miss Universe British Virgin Islands 2022. Penn crowned her at the Allamanda Estate Villa on Beef Island in Tortola. While holding the title, she was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English and working as a receptionist and a junior secretary at a law firm.
10. On November 25, 2022, she celebrated Arbour Day with the National Parks Trust of the Virgin Islands, Imagination Academy and Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School in Road Town, Tortola.
11. On December 2, 2022, she joined a mangrove replanting effort on the Prickly Pear National Park in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands.
12. On January 14, 2023, she represented the British Virgin Islands at Miss Universe 2022 and competed against 83 other candidates at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. She was unplaced.
13. She was 20 years old when she crowned her successor Miss Universe British Virgin Islands 2023 Ashellica Fahie on August 20, 2023 at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium of H. Lavity Stoutt Community College in Paraquita Bay.
