Yohanes Kidane, 22, of Rochester, New York, United States is a computer scientist. He stands 5’8″ and weighs 150 pounds.
Kidane is Mehret Hana Beyene‘s son. He is the younger brother of Yosief Kidane, 23, and an older brother of Sara Kidane.
In May 2019, Yohanes graduated from Webster-Schroeder High School in Webster, New York. From September 2019 to May 2023, he attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where he earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science.
From June 2020 to May 2023, Yohannes was a Cornell Computing and Information Science teaching assistant. He was an L3Harris Technologies electrical engineering intern from July 2020 to August 2020 and an Amazon software development engineer intern from June 2021 to August 2021.
From September 2022 to May 2023, Yohannes was a virtual embodiment lab research assistant at Cornell University. In July 2023, he moved to an apartment in San Francisco, California, USA. and on August 7, 2023, he started his job as a software engineer at Netflix in Los Gatos, California.
At around 7:15 p.m. on August 14, 2023, Yohannes was seen getting into a black Toyota Camry sedan with an Uber sticker at 28 North Fourth Street in San Jose. He wearing gray sweatpants, a black hoodie and black shoes.
On August 15, 2023, Yohannes did not show up for work. In the morning, a commuter from San Rafael, California found his phone and wallet near the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center in San Francisco and in the afternoon, a San Jose Police Department officer found his backpack in a bush near the Golden Gate Bridge area.
The backpack contained two of Yohannes’ laptops and personal documents. The San Jose Police Department found his apartment in San Jose was empty.
