Seven male residents of Idaho, United States and one male resident of Oregon, USA are accused of being involved in the sexual exploitation of children. They were caught after the Boise Police Department partnered with several other agencies in a large-scale investigation.
The agencies were the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, the Ada County Prosecutors Office, the Meridian and Garden City Police Departments, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Department of Homeland Security, the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) taskforce and the Idaho Office of the Attorney General. Undercover officers and social media were used to stage meetings where the suspects thought they would engage in sexual relations with minors.
From August 18, 2023 to August 19, 2023, the eight suspects were arrested. Five of them were arrested on state charges.
- David Gowin, 21, of Boise was arrested for enticement.
- Deler Abdulbaqi, 32, of Boise was arrested for enticement.
- Emmanuel Padron, 32, from Garden City, Idaho was arrested for enticement.
- Michael Gantz, 27, of Boise was arrested for enticement.
- Michael Hibbard, 32, of Garden City was arrested for enticement.
Three of the suspects were arrested on federal charges. They are still in custody and will be held in the Ada County Jail in Boise.
- Daniel De Long, 44, of Vale, Oregon was arrested for the attempted coercion of a minor.
- Shawn Long, 40, of Boise was arrested for attempted coercion of a minor.
- Tyler Asker, 32, of Boise was arrested for the attempted coercion of a minor.
Boise is the county seat of Ada County and the capital of Idaho. The city was founded in 1863 and incorporated in 1864.
Retired National Football League players Ernie Hughes, 68, and Jake Plummer, 48, were both born in Boise. The city’s incumbent and 56th mayor Lauren McLean, 48, assumed office on January 7, 2020.
