Cheam Wei Yeng of Selangor, Malaysia competed against 12 other finalists at Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 at M Resort and Hotel in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and won the title on October 7, 2022. She is also known as Lesley Cheam.

On August 27, 2023, Cheam crowned her successor Serena Lee at MOV Hotel in Jalan Berangan, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. The latter will represent Malaysia in the 72nd edition of Miss Universe.

On July 11, 1970, Josephine Lena Wong Jaw Leng represented Malaysia at Miss Universe 1970, competed against 62 other candidates at the Miami Beach Auditorium in Miami Beach, Florida, United States and finished in the Top 15. It is the first and still the only Miss Universe placement of Malaysia.

On January 14, 2023, Cheam represented Malaysia at Miss Universe 2022 and competed against 83 other candidates at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. She was unplaced.

Cheam was born and raised in Selangor. From 2016 to 2019, she attended the University of Nottingham Malaysia in Semenyih, Selangor where she earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical and health science.
