Matthew R. Bissonnette, 33, of Cromwell, Connecticut, United States previously lived in Middletown, Connecticut. He was arrested around a month before he turns 34.
Unbeknownst to Bissonnette, the person he was communicating with was Fred Sego, a detective with the East Haven Police Department in East Haven, Connecticut. In June 2023, Sego initiated an investigation into Bissonnette.
On a popular messaging app, Bissonette initiated conversations. During those conversations, he continually made attempts to meet up with who he thought was a underage girl at various locations, including the purported girl’s home, hotels and his residence.
When Bissonnette tried to meet up with the purported girl at his residence in Cromwell, the East Haven Police Department submitted a warrant for his arrest. On August 25, 2023, he was arrested without incident at his residence in Cromwell.
Bissonnette was transported to the East Haven Police Department where he was processed. He was charged with risk of injury to a child and enticing a minor by computer.
Bond for Bissonnette was set at $250,000. On September 6, 2023, he will appear in Connecticut Superior Court in New Haven, Connecticut.
