Gregory Pollock, 45, was a patient at TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Davidson County, Tennessee, United States on August 25, 2023. Details about his hospitalization were not released but he smelled like alcohol and was uneasy on his feet when he was in the hospital that day.
While fighting with hospital staff that day, Pollock allegedly yelled racial slurs. He is also accused of removing his intravenous (IV) line and flinging blood toward the staff and security.
Pollock allegedly kicked one nurse in the face. The name of the nurse was not released.
When responding Metro Nashville Police Department officers arrived at the hospital, they found Pollock restrained to a bed. He was arrested and booked into the Metro-Davidson County Detention Facility in Nashville.
It has yet to be confirmed whether or not Pollock is a resident of Nashville. He was charged with assaulting a nurse.
TriStar Summit Medical Center is a 218-bed comprehensive facility that offers cardiology, emergency, oncology, orthopedics, rehabilitation and women’s services. The hospital employs more than 300 board-certified physicians representing more than 36 specialties.
On January 20, 2015, it was announced that Tristar Summit Medical Center would pay $40,000 in a settlement with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the Department of Health and Human Services. The hospital settled allegations by the OIG that it illegally transferred a patient that had come to its emergency department after consuming a bottle of antifreeze without stabilizing the patient’s medical condition first.
