Dr. David Cole, 52, of Madison, Madison County, Alabama, United States is a U.S. Army veteran who served as a physician in Afghanistan and Iraq for 22 years, according to his website. He and his wife Melanie Cole have three children namely Alex Cole, Michael Cole and Catherine Cole.
David’s house on Cedar Springs Place in Madison used to be in District 10 of Alabama. But when lawmakers in Alabama redrew district lines on November 4, 2021, the address became part of District 4.
Just days before the filing deadline in November 2021, David rented space in a friend’s house on Conservancy Drive in Madison, which is in District 10, but still lived in his house in District 4. When he filed to run for office, he used Conservancy Drive in Madison as his address.
David is a Republican. On November 8, 2022, he defeated Marilyn Lands, a Democrat, and Elijah Boyd, a Libertarian, in the general election for District 10 of the Alabama House of Representatives.
On August 29, 2023, David was arrested and charged with fraudulently voting at multiple or unauthorized locations. If convicted of the crime, he faces up to 10 years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
Just after 3:00 p.m., David was booked into the Madison County Jail in Huntsville, Alabama. He was released from custody after he posted a $2,500 bond later that afternoon.
