Jonathan Robert Burns, 36, of Woodbridge, Prince William County, Virginia, United States previously lived in Lancaster, New York, USA. He has lived in different parts of Minnesota, USA including Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
Aside from Woodbridge, Burns has lived in other parts of Virginia including Burke. He is a former math teacher at Potomac Middle School in Dumfries, Prince William County.
Since March 2023, Burns had not been in the building at Potomac Middle School. After officially resigning in June 2023, he started teaching at Andrew G. Wright Middle School in Stafford, Stafford County, Virginia.
In July 2023, Burns allegedly communicated via text messages with two female minors. He is accused of soliciting sexual acts and sending inappropriate and sexually explicit text messages to the two girls, who were both his former students.
While no physical contact was reported by either victim, Burns allegedly exposed himself during a video chat with one of the victims. He reportedly had more than 120,000 followers on TikTok before his account was deleted.
On July 27, 2023, police learned of inappropriate communication involving Burns. Detectives started an investigation and obtained arrest warrants for him.
Upon learning of the allegations, AG Wright Middle School immediately removed Burns from the school and ended his employment. On August 25, 2023, he was arrested and on August 31, 2023, he was charged with six counts of using a communication system to facilitate certain offenses involving children.
