Jordan Cannon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States has died. She was 40.
Cannon started her career in law enforcement in the Okarche Police Department in Okarche, Oklahoma. She later followed her husband Vaughn Cannon, 41, into the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office in Cleveland County, Oklahoma.
In 2006, Jordan gave birth to her child. In 2019, she married Vaughn and became the stepmother of his two children from a previous relationship.
In 2021, Jordan filed divorce papers against Vaughn. In 2022, the judge dismissed it because they both did not show up to court.
In March 2021, Vaughn joined the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office. In June 2021, Jordan also joined the office as a school resource officer and later, she moved to the patrol division then became an instructor on the crisis intervention team.
Just after 1:00 a.m. on August 30, 2023, Vaughn allegedly fatally shot Jordan after an argument inside their residence in Brookstone Lake Drive in Oklahoma City. At around 2:00 a.m., the Oklahoma City Police Department was called to reports of a domestic disturbance at the residence.
Responding officers found Vaughn weeping next to Jordan’s body at the door of their bedroom. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Vaughn was arrested and booked into the Canadian County jail in El Reno, Canadian County, Oklahoma. She was charged with one count of murder and removed from the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.
