Ola Albanni, 52, of Hoboken, Hudson County, New Jersey, United States is accused of attacking a woman, 65, in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA. The two did not now each other.
At around 6:10 p.m. on September 1, 2023, Albanni was caught on camera walking on a busy street in Manhattan. Wearing a bucket hat, a furry black coat over a white shirt, pink shorts and buckled shoes, she reached a hand into a pair of shopping bags.
Albanni approached the elderly woman who was walking on the sidewalk outside 2 Bros Pizza on Eighth Avenue and West 38th Street in Manhattan. After using a large kitchen knife to slash the victim in the face, the Hoboken resident fled on foot.
Why Albanni was in Manhattan that evening and why she attacked the victim are still unclear. The name of the victim was not released.
The victim had a laceration under her eye and was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She has been released and is currently in stable condition.
On September 3, 2023, Albanni was arrested. She was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
