Brandon Andre Thompson, 26, of Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin, United States is a former resident of Brooklyn, Wisconsin. He used to live near the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee campus in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.
Thompson is 6’1″ tall. He weighs 210 pounds.
At around 1:20 a.m. on September 3, 2023, Thompson was stopped in Fitchburg, Dane County by Fitchburg Police Department officers for a registration violation. He was driving a dark-colored sedan and wearing a long-sleeved black hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.
Wearing the same clothing, Thompson was caught on camera later that morning walking behind a female University of Wisconsin-Madison senior student, 20, who was walking on the sidewalk in Madison. They did not know each other.
Thompson allegedly abducted the student and forced her into an area between two houses at West Wilson and Bedford Street in Madison where he allegedly beat, strangled and sexually assaulted her. Someone heard the woman’s cries for help and called police.
At around 3:20 a.m., the victim was found with life-threatening injuries in between two houses in Madison. She was rushed her to the hospital with severe injuries including a broken jaw.
According to a witness, Thompson pretended to be an innocent bystander, telling the witness he had just found the victim. Thompson refused to stay on the scene and left in his dark-colored sedan.
At 12:254 a.m. on September 6, 2023, Thompson was arrested. At around 7:00 a.m., he was booked into the Dane County Jail in Madison.
Thompson was charged with first-degree sexual assault, first-degree reckless injury and strangulation. The woman he allegedly attacked is expected to survive from the injuries she suffered in the attack.
