Charles Carmine Maglio, 54, of Greenacres, Palm Beach County, Florida, United States is a Democrat. On May 6, 1997, he registered to vote in Palm Beach County.
Aside from Greenacres, Maglio has lived in other parts of Florida including Pompano Beach, Coconut Creek, Davie, Apopka and Fort Lauderdale. In December 2015, he completed his bachelor’s degree 6-12 match education at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Palm Beach County.
From 2015 to 2016, Maglio worked at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Broward County, Florida as a student teacher in math. He worked as a server and a general manager in the restaurant industry in between his college pursuit.
In January 2016, Maglio was hired to teach math at Wellington Landings Middle School in Wellington, Palm Beach County. For the 2020 school year, he moved to Wellington High School in Wellington.
While employed as a Wellington High School math teacher, Maglio was allegedly in a romantic and sexual relationship with a female student, 16, who is also employed at a restaurant called Tijuana Flats. They met in August 2022.
In December 2022, Maglio sent flowers to the girl at her job at Tijuana Flats and the manager notified the Wellington High School principal. Shortly after, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office investigators started an investigation.
Wellington High School was informed about the investigation and Maglio was reassigned to a non-student contact assignment. The girl did not want to get him in trouble because she loved him, she told detectives.
However, the girl confessed to communicating with Maglio through Snapchat and Instagram and having sex with him several times at his apartment in Greenacres. According to her, communicating through Snapchat was his idea so that their conversation would not be saved.
On February 1, 2023, the girl had a phone call with Maglio, which he did not know was monitored by investigators. During the call, he told her his only concern was “if the police finds something on Snapchat” and said, “I am in love with you”.
“If you can wait until you’re 18, we can see each other,” Maglio told the girl. She asked him why he did not he wait until she was 18.
“I don’t know,” Maglio replied. “I always saw you as a woman. I’m not a predator.”
In August 2023, forensic test results showed that Maglio’s deoxyribonucleic acid was found in the girl’s underwear. On September 8, 2023, he was arrested and charged with sexual assault by a person 24 or older involving a minor and soliciting or engaging in a romantic relationship with a student.
On September 9, 2023, a judge set Maglio’s bond at $20,000 and prohibited him contacting the girl or anyone under the age of 18. Represented by Cory Strolla, Maglio has bonded out of jail.
