Nicholas Bassler Jr., 24, and Sierra Campany, 24, are residents of Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida, United States. In 2018, he was arrested in Bradenton for a lewd and lascivious offense.
Recently, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) learned that images of child sexual abuse were transmitted from Bradenton. Investigators discovered that the images were transmitted over Facebook by Bassler and Campany.
Bassler is accused of grooming Campany through their relationship to push the sexual assaults with children further. They had a personal relationship with the victims and one of the victims was taken to New York, USA.
On June 5, 2023, the NCMEC sent cyber tips to the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office about the child exploitation material. On September 13, 2023, detectives made contact with Bassler and Campany.
Probable cause was built for a search warrant for Bassler and Campany’s residence in Bradenton. When the warrant was served, several electronics including a tablet were seized.
While investigating the devices, detectives found mages and videos showing both Bassler and Campany performing sex acts on children. Detectives know of three victims ranging in age from 10 months to 10 years old.
When Campany was arrested on September 14, 2023, Campany nine months pregnant and high on phenylcyclohexyl piperidine (PCP). On September 15, 2023, Bassler was also arrested.
Campany and Bassler were each charged with capital sexual battery and possession, transmission and production of child pornography. They both have confessed to the crimes.
