Alnath Omar Oliver, 53, of Portland, Oregon, United States previously lived in Los Angeles, California, USA. In May 2013, his daughter Amara Oliver was born.
On May 28, 2013, Amara was found dead amid recycled items at EFI Recycling, a recycling center in Portland. She weighed 5.25 pounds and her umbilical cord was still attached.
The baby was born alive, according to the medical examiner, who ruled the baby’s death a homicide. Detectives received several tips about the case but the baby’s identity remained unknown and the case went cold.
When the Portland Police Cold Case Unit took on the case in 2019, tissue from the baby was sent to a private forensics lab. It did not result to a lead.
In December 2021, detectives were alerted to a family connection but the submission was anonymous. In June 2023, the detectives learned Amara’s name and identified her parents.
On September 18, 2023, a grand jury indicted Alnath on charges of concealing the birth of an infant, first-degree criminal mistreatment, third-degree rape and two counts of second-degree manslaughter. On September 21, 2023, the U.S. Marshals Service arrested him and booked him into the Multnomah County Detention Center in Portland on the arrest warrant.
Alnath’s mugshot has yet to be released. Authorities have yet to release details about Amara’s mother.
