Darin Shane Deshotels, 52, of Lafayette, Louisiana, United States was recently arrested. He is accused of trying to meet up with an underage girl.
Deshotels was 5 months younger than Monique Poteet Deshotels. They got married in 2002.
On October 26, 2016, Monique died at a hospital in Lafayette. She was 45.
Darin allegedly communicated online with who he thought was a girl, 19. Unbeknownst to him he was actually communicating with Louisiana Dad’s Against Pedophiles director Joseph Black, who was portraying himself online as a girl, 14.
On September 21, 2023, Darin went to a Waffle House to meet with the purported teen. That was where he was confronted by Black.
Lafayette Police Department officers arrived and arrested Darin.
Bond for Darin was set at $40,000. He ws charged with computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
