Dominic Austin, 19, was already a tenant at The Landings at Morrison Apartments in Gresham, Oregon, United States when Nubrittany Smith and her mother Tasha Smith moved there in early June 2023. On June 29, 2023, he allegedly started harassing the two women.
On June 30, 2023, Nubrittany notified property management and the Gresham Police Department about the harassment. However, according to her, nothing was done to remove Austin from the complex and he continued to harass them.
Nubrittany’s Ring security camera captured how Austin repeatedly walked up to her door while shirtless and swinging and thrusting a blade. In one video, he talked about slavery and said he wanted Tasha and Nubrittany to be whipped.
“I’ll f——g rape your daughter, bitch!” Austin said in one video. In another video, he said, “You’re about to get murdered. Call the cops, bitch!”
On at least two occasions, Austin allegedly harassed another neighbor, who also contacted the Gresham Police Department. In August 2023, a temporary protective order was filed against Austin.
On September 8, 2023, The Landings at Morrison Apartments officially notified Austin about his neighbors’ complaints against him. On September 18, 2023, an eviction notice was filed.
On September 19, 2023, Austin was served with Nubrittany’s protective order. On September 20, 2023, he was arrested and charged with menacing and 10 counts of violating a stalking protective order.
