Arthur Leigh Welohr, 35, is an American man living in Indonesia. He hails from San Francisco, California, United States.
From 2006 to 2010, Welohr studied business and horticulture at City College of San Francisco in San Francisco. In 2010, he joined Silverspot Nursery School in Brisbane, California as a caregiver.
On August 21, 2015, he allegedly had an argument with a man, then 56, and a woman, then, 56, inside a residence in Silver Terrace, San Francisco.
When the argument escalated, Welohr allegedly pulled out a sword and wounded the other man’s head, shoulder and hand and the woman’s hands. Both victims were taken to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
While Welohr was arrested for two counts of attempted murder, it is unclear how long he stayed in jail. What is clear is that he later moved to Indonesia where he married an Indonesian woman.
In Indonesia, Wehlohr and his father-in-law Agus Sopiyan, 58, ran a business together. When the venture started to fail, their relationship turned sour.
On several occasions, Welohr allegedly vandalized the residence of his parents-in-law in Banjar City, West Java, Indonesia. The San Francisco man was not arrested for the crimes and his wife reportedly paid for the damages.
On September 24, 2023, Welohr had a verbal altercation with Sopiyan near the residence of the latter in Banjar City. The San Francisco man was arrested after allegedly stabbing and beheading his father-in-law.
