Shawn Rykken, 45, of Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, United States is a staff sergeant with the U.S. Air Force. Aside from Dayton, he has lived in other parts of Ohio including Beavercreek, Westerville and Columbus.
From November 2004 to July 2009, Rykken served as a tech controller in the Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, USA. From July 2009 to July 2013, he was an instructor in the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi, USA.
In 2010, Rykken graduated from the Community College of the Air Force in Montgomery, Alabama, USA with an associate’s degree in military science. He was one of the 140 senior airmen on the U.S. Air Force’s staff sergeant promotion list released on August 19, 2010.
From June 2011 to December 2011, Rykken was a watch officer at the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) in the MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, USA. From July 2013 to July 2017, he was a unit deployment manager and an information management officer in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, USA.
From July 2017 to February 2022, Rykken was a network administrator and an information technology specialist in the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. From February 2022 to January 2023, he was a U.S. Air Force contracting officer representative in Qaanaaq, Greenland.
In January 2023, Rykken resumed his role as a network administrator and an information technology specialist in the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. While still employed as a U.S. Air Force staff sergeant, he was arrested by the Montgomery County Human Trafficking Task Force as part of a john sting operation.
From September 25-30, 2023, the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission (OOCIC) of Ohio’s 51st attorney general Dave Yost, 66, led a human trafficking crackdown throughout Ohio called Operation Buyer’s Remorse. Including Rykken, a total of 160 people were arrested.
