Deshawn J. Evans, 26, of Austintown, Mahoning County, Ohio, United States is accused of breaking the law again. On May 27, 2022, he possessed a loaded handgun during a traffic stop in Columbiana, Ohio.
On March 16, 2023, a Mahoning County grand jury indicted him on a fourth-degree felony, which is improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. In September 2023, he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Evans was placed on probation for three years. He received credit for 16 days served in jail.
From September 25-30, 2023, eight human trafficking and major crimes task forces of the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission (OOCIC) conducted coordinated stings. Evans allegedly called a phone number listed in an ad investigators placed online as part of the sting operation called Operation Buyer’s Remorse.
While having a sexually explicit conversation with a police officer’s undercover profile, Evans allegedly indicated that he wanted to engage in paid sexual activity. He was told by the undercover officer that they could meet at the Days Inn motel on Clarkins Drive in Austintown.
On September 29, 2023, Evans arrived at the motel where he was arrested by detectives. The mobile phone he used to engage with the undercover officer was considered a criminal tool.
Evans was charged with engaging in prostitution and possession of criminal tools. Including him, a total of 160 people were arrested.
