Michael Anthony Schnurr, 32, of Brook Park, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from Ohio University in Athens, Athens County, Ohio. He earned his PhD in mathematics from the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, Germany.
Schnurr worked at Mathnasium in Rocky River, Cuyahoga County as the lead math instructor. The company provides private tutoring to school-aged children.
On November 5, 2019, Schnurr registered to vote in Cuyahoga County. He is not affiliated to any political party.
On September 28, 2023, Schnurr was arrested by undercover detectives at the Holiday Inn Express on Clemens Road in Westlake, Cuyahoga County. He was charged with engaging in prostitution.
The detectives are officers from the Westlake Police Department, which is a member of the Northeast Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force. The arrest was part of Operation Buyer’s Remorse, a human trafficking crackdown throughout Ohio led by the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission (OOCIC) of Ohio’s 51st attorney general Dave Yost, 66.
From September 25-30, 2023, the commission’s eight human trafficking and major crimes task forces conducted coordinated stings. Including Schnurr, a total of 160 people were arrested.
