Michael Trent Myers, 33, of Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama, United States was recently arrested by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, which is based in Mobile. He is accused of possessing and producing child pornography.
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) of the U.S. Department of Justice started ICAC in 1998. It is a network of 61 coordinated task forces representing more than 5,400 federal, state and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies to prevent internet crimes against children.
On November 15, 2022, the U.S. Senate passed the PROTECT Our Children Act of 2022, which reauthorized ICAC and the National Strategy for Child Exploitation Prevention and Interdiction through 2024. On December 6, 2022, the U.S. Congress motioned to agree without rejection.
Aside from Mobile, Myers has lived in other parts of Alabama including Fairhope, Baldwin County. He was charged with the production of child pornography, sex abuse of a child less than 12 and five counts of possession of child pornography.
On October 6, 2023, Myers will attend a bond hearing. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office did not release other details about the suspect and his alleged crimes.
Mobile was incorporated as a town on January 20, 1814 and as a city on December 17, 1819. It is the second most populous city in Alabama.
