Indonesian actor Angga Yunanda, 23, will star in the action film “Malice” opposite Taiwanese actors Hsueh Shih-Ling, 40, and Jieh-Wen King, 66. This was announced on October 9, 2023 at an event at the 28th Busan International Film Festival in Busan, South Korea.
Taiwanese filmmaker Lim Lungyin, 36, will direct “Malice”. It will be produced by the Czech Republic’s Lonely Production, Indonesia’s Kawankawan Media and Taiwan’s Tydal Productions and Aview Images.
Lim studied filmmaking in the Czech Republic. His first feature film “Ohong Village“, which starred King, won awards at the Taipei Film Festival, the Jeonju Film Festival and the Torino Film Festival.
Angga Yunanda
Born in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, Yunanda pursued a career as a model before becoming an actor and a singer. He made his acting debut in 2015 when he starred in “Malu-Malu Kucing“.
Yunanda starred in “Mermaids in Love” and “Mermaid in Love 2 World” from 2016 to 2017. On March 13, 2017, he released his first single titled “Here for You“.
Hsueh Shih-Ling
Hsueh was born in Sanmin District, Kaohsiung and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He went to Fu Jen Catholic University in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
In 2007, Hsueh joined the hip hop band Da Mouth along with Chung Hua, Harry and Aisa Senda. They disbanded in 2016.
Jieh-Wen King
Born in Taiwang, King starred in “Qiu Ge” in 1976 and in “Du Bi Dao Da Zhan Du Bi Dao” and “Long Wang San Tai Zi” in 1997. He starred in the series “Boys Can Fly” in 2013, in “700 Sui Lu Cheng” from 2016 to 2017, in “The Fearless” in 2019 and in “You Sheng Zhi Nian” in 2023.
King had two nominations at the 2019 Taipei Film Festival. He was a Best Supporting Actor nominee for “Dad’s Suit” and Best Actor nominee for “Ohong Village”.
“Malice“
“Malice” is described as Asia’s first fantasy road film on the sea. Hsieh Chia-Hsin will write the script, which is about three men, played by Yunanda, Hsueh and King, who board the last harpoon boat to search for an extinct swordfish.
The Taiwanese government has given funding to the project. Some of the scenes will be filmed in the water tanks at Iskandar Malaysia Studios in Malaysia.
