Damaris Rolanda Milton, 44, of Orlando, Florida, United States was recently at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Aside from Orlando, she has lived in other parts of Florida including Kissimmee and Palm Coast.
On the afternoon of October 11, 2023, Milton was picked up from Kensington, a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority station, in Decatur, Georgia by taxi driver Selemon Melkamu, 60. Before exiting the vehicle, she allegedly stabbed the driver in the upper chest near his shoulder, grabbed his phone and threw it out the window.
At around 4:45 p.m., Milton arrived at the airport armed with the knife she allegedly used to stab Melkamu. As she began walking toward the south terminal, police officers asked her to dropped the knife.
Instead, Milton swiped at a female Delta Air Lines employee with the knife and stabbed Atlanta Police Department lieutenant David Cannon in the leg. The Orlando woman was tackled and disarmed by another officer.
Melkamu and Cannon were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta while the injured Delta Air Lines employee was transported to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Cannon has been released from the hospital.
In the evening, Milton was booked into the Clayton County Jail in Jonesboro, Georgia. She was charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
