Jeffrey D. Grossman, 65, and his son Steven Grossman, 24, live in the same house in Tenafly, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. They are both teachers
Steven is a social worker by trade while Jeffrey taught college for several years. The father became a lawyer and worked for New York City, New York, USA before returning to teaching at Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, Bergen County and the Norwood Public School in Norwood, Bergen County.
Jeffrey teaches social studies sixth and seventh graders at the Midland School in North Branch, Somerset County, New Jersey. The Rochelle Park School District named him the 2015 Teacher of the Year.
In May 2023, Jeffrey accompanied students on a trip to Washington, D.C., USA. On September 26, 2023, Steven’s appointment as a substitute teacher at the Midland School at a rate of $120 per day was approved.
On October 11, 2023, members of the Cyber Crimes Unit of Bergen County prosecutor Mark Musella raided Jeffrey and Steven’s house in Tenafly. More than 1,000 images of child pornography were found and 32 electronic devices were seized.
On October 12, 2023, Jeffrey and Steven were arrested in Paramus, Bergen County and booked into the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, Bergen County. They were each charged with one count of possession of child pornography.
After the arrests, Jeffrey and Steven were suspended by the Rochelle Park School Board. They are both prohibited from contacting any student or staff.
On October 13, 2023, Jeffrey and Steven appeared before a judge. Samuel Braverman, an attorney for both men, entered a plea of not guilty on the father’s behalf while no plea was entered for the son.
Affiliated with the Democratic Party, Jeffrey serves as the borough council president in Tenafly. He is listed on the ballot seeking reelection in November 2023 and his term expires in December 2023.
