Carmen Russo, 38, of Canfield, Mahoning County, Ohio, United States wrestled at Thiel College in Greenville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, USA. From 2003 to 2007, he attended the university where he majored in elementary education and minored in psychology.
From August 2008 to October 2012, Russo was employed by the Sharpsville School District in Sharpsville, Mercer County as an instructional aide for junior high and high school. In October 2012, he joined the Youngstown Academy of Excellence in Youngstown, Mahoning County as a math and language arts teacher to kindergarten and third grade students.
In 2019, Russo was the head coach for the Conneaut Area School in Linesville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. That year, he and Casey Taylor tied for Section 2 Coach of the Year in Pennsylvania’s District 10.
In September 2021, Russo joined the athletic department of West Geauga High School in Chester Township, Geauga County, Ohio as the head wrestling coach. Prior to this, he served as a first assistant wrestling coach at Grove City High School in Grove City, Mercer County.
On October 14, 2023, agents with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force arrested Russo as part of an undercover sex sting in Columbiana County, Ohio. He is accused of arranging to meet a woman he planned to pay $140 for sexual activity while he was employed by West Geauga High School.
When Russo arrived at the location, he had the $140 cash and his phone. After the arrest, he resigned from his position as the head wrestling coach of West Geauga High School.
The school has yet to release a statement about the arrest. On October 19, 2023, Russo will appear in court.
