Michael Anthony Kealty, 33, of Smyrna, Delaware, United States is a detective with the Smyrna Police Department. Aside from Smyrna, he has lived in other parts of Delaware including Camden, Felton and Magnolia.

On August 11, 2017, Kealty was one of the 15 officers from different police departments who attended the law enforcement training completion ceremony at Dover High School in Dover, Delaware. At the time, he was a Smyrna Police Department patrolman and he received The Attorney General’s Award for Legal Excellence.

In August 2023, Kealty allegedly distributed child pornography via his Snapchat account. On September 22, 2023, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents executed a search warrant at his residence in Smyrna and subsequently discovered additional child pornography in his Snapchat account.

On October 16, 2023, Kealty was arrested. The Smyrna Police Department detective was charged with distribution and possession of child pornography. 

If convicted of the distribution charge, Kealty faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison with a maximum penalty of 20 years. If convicted of the possession charge, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years. 

With the cooperation of the Smyrna Police Department, the FBI’s field office in Baltimore, Maryland, USA investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Briana Knox is prosecuting the case.
