Rita Frances Bellew, 55, of Hatboro, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States caught on camera inside Amy’s Family Pizzeria in Hatboro berating the business’s co-owner Omar Quiñonez on February 23, 2023. She complained about the Spanish programming on a television.
“Give me my money back,” Bellew told Quiñonez. “I’m not giving my money to some illegal immigrant.”
An Amy’s Family Pizzeria employee filmed Bellew’s racist rant, which went viral on social media. On March 3, 2023, Belllew was charged with ethnic intimidation and harassment.
When Bellew appeared before Magisterial District Court Judge Paul Leo on April 28, 2023, she waived her preliminary hearing. Six members of the family that operates Amy’s Family Pizzeria sat in the audience.
On June 7, 2023, Bellew appeared in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in Norristown, Montgomery County where he was formally arraigned. Her confrontation with Quiñonez on February 23, 2023 was featured in “Customer Wars” episode 98, which aired on the A & E Network on July 18, 2023.
At 8:30 a.m. on November 13, 2023, Bellew will go back to the Montgomery County Court to attend a pre-trial conference before Judge Risa Vetri Ferman.
