Matthew John McGlone, 33, of Carolina, Puerto Rico is accused of exploiting a boy, 14. While allegedly committing this rime, the Puerto Rican man was a wanted person in Georgia, USA for similar charges
Between September 11, 2023 and October 5, 2023, McGlone allegedly used a cellphone and an instant messaging platform to coerce the boy to engage in sexual activity. During this period, the man allegedly knowingly attempted to receive child exploitation material and transferred obscene material to the boy.
In collaboration with the Puerto Rico Police Bureau, the Puerto Rico Crimes Against Children Task Force led an investigation. On October 12, 2023, a federal grand jury indicted McGlone on receipt of child exploitation material, transfer of obscene material to a minor and coercion and enticement of a minor.
If convicted, McGlone faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years to life in prison for coercion and enticement of a minor and up to 10 years in prison for the transfer of obscene material to a minor. If convicted of receipt of child exploitation material, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years up to 20 years.
On October 13, 2023, special agents from Homeland Security Investigations in San Juan, Puerto Rico arrested McGlone. The case is being prosecuted by special assistant U.S. attorney Nadia Y. Pineda-Perez of the Child Exploitation and Immigration Unit.
