“Zombie House Flipping” is a reality show that premiered on FYI on January 30, 2016. It features Justin Stamper and his team buying and fixing up abandoned bank-owned zombie houses.
Currently, the show is available on Philo, Prime Video, iTunes, Hulu, Amazon Freevee and A&E. Joining Stamper in the cast are Ashlee Casserly, Keith Ori and Peter Duke.
Ori is a resident of Delaney Park, Orlando, Florida, United States. Among his neighbors were David Tronnes, 55, and the late Shanti Cooper Tronnes.
David was 11 years older than Shanti. She has a son named Jackson Cooper from a previous relationship.
When David and Shanti met on Match.com in 2013, he was living in Minnesota, USA. He allegedly told her he had inherited $4 million to $6 million from his father, which was later found to be untrue.
At the time, both David and Shanti were going through a divorce. They later started dating and in April 2015, they moved to Delaney Park where they bought a older-style Victorian 4,000-square-feet house with a garage apartment, a pool and a few gargoyles.
As soon as David and Shanti moved to the house, they started to renovate it. The main house was unlivable so they moved to the garage apartment.
While Shanti ran a lucrative financial software business out of her home office upstairs, David oversaw the renovation and reached out to Ori. In April 2018, Ori agreed to renovate the couple’s house and feature it in “Zombie House Flipping”.
Filming was set to begin in May 2023. Both David and Shanti agreed to appear on the show.
But shortly after, Shanti decided not to participate in the show, which angered David. While experiencing problems in their marriage, she slept in a one-bedroom studio on their house and he slept in the garage.
On April 24, 2018, David allegedly beat Shanti and strangled her to death in their house in Delaney Park. She was 39.
That day, David called 911 and told Orlando Police Department detectives Teresa Sprague and Barb Sharp he found Shanti in the bathtub after spending the day cleaning and walking his dogs. However, blood evidence, Shanti’s facial injuries and bruises on her eyes told a different story, according to the medical examiner.
The Orlando Police Department noticed inaccuracies with David’s story. Shanti suffered blunt force trauma to the head and was strangled, her autopsy confirmed.
In August 2018, David was arrested, charged with first-degree murder. He was held at the Orange County Jail in Orlando without bail.
On October 18, 2023, David was found guilty of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison.
