Ismael Zamora-Ruiz, 55, of Bolingbrook, Illinois, United States is in jail. He is accused of communicating with someone he thought was a minor but was actually an undercover officer.

From October 25-26, 2023, the Division of Criminal Investigation Trafficking Enforcement Bureau of the Illinois State Police conducted an anti-human trafficking operation in the Will County, Illinois area. It resulted in the arrests of six men including Zamora-Ruiz.

Zamora-Ruiz and the five other arrestees were booked into the Will County Jail in Joliet, Illinois. They were each charged with indecent solicitation of a minor and traveling to meet a minor.

On October 27, 2023, Zamora-Ruiz and two other suspects appeared before Judge Donald DeWilkins for their detention hearings. The judge ordered to keep the three suspects detained in jail.

The operation focused on identifying adults seeking to engage in commercial sex acts with minors. It was a part of a multifaceted approach by the Illinois State Police aimed at stopping human trafficking in Illinois.

According to Illinois State Police director Brendan F. Kelly, the agency conducted a similar operation in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois that resulted in the arrests of eight people. He said the agency is increasing its efforts to protect people who are vulnerable to human trafficking, forced labor and sexual servitude.
