Mario Lucas Garcia, 56, of Joliet, Illinois, United States is in jail. He is also a resident of Coal City, Illinois.
From October 25-26, 2023, the Division of Criminal Investigation Trafficking Enforcement Bureau of the Illinois State Police conducted an anti-human trafficking operation in the Will County, Illinois area. It resulted in the arrests of six men including Lucas.
The operation focused on identifying adults seeking to engage in commercial sex acts with minors. It was a part of a multifaceted approach by the Illinois State Police aimed at stopping human trafficking in Illinois.
Lucas and two other arrestees are scheduled for detention hearings on October 28, 2023. The six arrestees were booked into the Will County Jail in Joliet, Illinois and were each charged with indecent solicitation of a minor and traveling to meet a minor.
According to Illinois State Police director Brendan F. Kelly, the agency conducted a similar operation in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois that resulted in the arrests of eight people. He said the agency is increasing its efforts to protect people who are vulnerable to human trafficking, forced labor and sexual servitude.
