Allen Q. Nguyen, 29, of Huntley, Illinois, United States worked as a martial arts teacher at Ha’s Taekwondo Academy in Lake of the Hills, Illinois. He is currently in jail.
Nguyen rented a room at a residence on Auburn Court in Huntley. While living there, he allegedly possessed child pornography.
In June 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) notified the Huntley Police Department about an unidentified internet subscriber flagged for possibly possessing child pornography. The information was obtained from the Internet Crimes Against Children data system.
The investigations division of the Huntley Police Department conducted an investigation and identified Nguyen as the offender. On the morning of October 24, 2023, the department and the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit served a search warrant at his residence in Huntley.
Evidence of child pornography were found during the search warrant. Detectives recovered material involving sexually explicit videos of juveniles including children under the age of 13.
While employed at Ha’s Taekwondo Academy, Nguyen allegedly disseminated the explicit material. He was arrested and booked into the McHenry County Jail.
A petition was filed by the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office to detain Nguyen. He was considered a willful flight risk and a real and present danger to the community.
On October 25, 2023, McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge granted the petition to hold Nguyen pending trial. The martial arts teacher was charged with four counts of child pornography.
An active investigation into Nguyen is still underway. Ha’s Taekwondo Academy is closed through October 31, 2023.
