Walter John Maxim, 44, of Beachwood, Ocean County, New Jersey, United States is married. Aside from Beachwood, he has lived in other parts of New Jersey including Barnegat and Ocean.
Maxim is accused of harassing a man who attends college outside New Jersey. The latter is also a Beachwood resident.
From July 2023 to October 2023, Maxim allegedly sent many text messages to the college student. The messages contained racial slurs, vulgarities and threats directed toward the student and and the student’s family.
After the college student asked Maxim to stop contacting him, the threatening messages allegedly continued. The student was known to Maxim’s family.
On October 23, 2023, the student’s father went to the headquarters of the Beachwood Police Department to report the threatening messages sent by Maxim. On October 24, 2023, Maxim was arrested at his resident in Beachwood and booked into the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, Ocean County.
Maxim was charged with stalking, harassment, terroristic threats and three counts of bias intimidation. He is being held pending a detention hearing.
