Zoe Sophia Williams, 18, of Fredericksburg, Gillespie County, Texas, United States worked as a babysitter. She is dating Freddy Sanchez, 22, a soldier assigned to the 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade at Fort Cavazos near Killeen, Bell County, Texas.
On October 20, 2023, both Williams and Sanchez were arrested and they were each charged with possession of child pornography. Additional charges may be filed pending results.
Earlier that day, Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office deputies and an investigator met with special agents from the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division. They investigate Williams and Sanchez, particularly child abuse material and inappropriate acts with children that originated with the Fort Cavazos soldier.
The investigators located evidence depicting child sexual abuse material on Williams’ phone. She allegedly had access to her victims through babysitting.
Williams allegedly sought out child sexual abuse material via the internet. She allegedly took pictures of children while in her care and sent them to Sanchez.
Shortly after Sanchez’s arrest, his Fort Cavazos commander determined that pretrial confinement was appropriate and placed him into confinement. He was booked into the Bell County Jail in Belton, Bell County.
Fort Cavazos is named after Richard Edward Cavazos. Born in Kingsville, Kleberg County, Texas, he is the first Hispanic four-star general of the U.S. Army.
Built in 1942, the U.S. Army post was formerly named Fort Hood for John Bell Hood. Born in Owingsville, Kentucky, USA, he was a Confederate general during the American Civil War.
