Peter Heintz, 39, of Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia, United States was arrested during the Operation Masquerade in Forsyth County, Georgia. It was a multiagency probe into internet crimes against children.
Led by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the operation involved the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office and the police department of Alpharetta, Fulton County, Georgia. For three days, the agencies investigated adults preying on juveniles online and soliciting them for sex.
Including Heintz, a total of 11 male residents of Georgia were arrested. The Marietta resident was charged with illegal solicitation, enticing or seducing a minor and obscene internet contact with a minor.
Forsyth County was founded on December 3, 1831. It was named for John Forsyth, who served as the 13th U.S. secretary of state from July 1, 1834 to March 4, 1841.
In 1987, Ron Freeman began his career at the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. As sheriff, he was elected to office in 2016 and he entered his second term in 2021.
“Endanger our children in Forsyth County and you will find out what jail and no bond looks like,” Freeman stated. “I am very proud of our Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and appreciate the unwavering support of our partner agencies during this operation.”
The Operation Masquerade is the second operation of its kind in Forsyth County. In 2019, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office conducted Operation Just Cause, which led to the arrest of 24 people.
