Cindy Sue Rainey, 48, of Palm Coast, Flagler County, Florida, United States and her late husband David William Rainey have two sons together. They are Bailey Rainey, 21, of Palm Coast and Jack Davis Rainey, 19, of Orlando, Orange County, Florida.
David was 5 years older than Cindy. In 2000, they got married.
On the morning of July 25, 2021, Cindy reported David missing while they were vacationing in Suwannee, Dixie County, Florida with Bailey and Jack. In the evening, Dixie County Sheriff’s Office detectives found David dead in a canal behind a residence the family rented in Suwanee.
David had multiple stab wounds to the chest. After his death, he was placed in the water.
David’s death was ruled a homicide. He was 52.
On October 25, 2023, Dixie County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Cindy and Bailey in Bunnell, Flagler County with the help of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. On the same day, the investigators arrested Jack in Orland with the help of the assistance of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Cindy, Bailey and Jack were each charged with tampering with evidence. Dixie County Sheriff’s Office has yet to announce who is accused of fatally stabbing David.
