Jeremy Michael Abshear of North Palm Springs, Riverside County, California, United States died on May 16, 2023. He was 48.
Abshear was shot in North Palm Springs allegedly by his fellow North Palm Springs residents Mark Brian Barneck, 66, and Cody Barneck, 33, and Palm Desert, Riverside County residents Aisa Kirk Bailey, 19, and Conner Turley, 18. Paramedics tried to save Abshear but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cody is Mark’s son. On May 17, 2023, they were both arrested in Desert Hot Springs, Riverside County and booked into the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio, Riverside County.
On May 19, 2023, both Mark and Cody pleaded not guilty to murder. On the same day, Bailey was arrested in Palm Desert and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, Riverside County.
On May 23, 2023, Bailey pleaded not guilty to murder at the Larson Justice Center in Indio. He, Mark and Cody were all being held on $1 million bail bonds.
On October 27, 2023, Turley was arrested in Palm Desert. He was booked into juvenile hall in Indio because he was a juvenile when he was allegedly involved in the shooting of Abshear.
