Sumith Reddy Maddi of Eagan, Dakota County, Minnesota, United States has died. He was 19.
Maddi was born in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota to Rameswar Maddi and Neeraja Maddi. Sumith has a sister named Sneha Maddi.
Sumith graduated from Eastview High School in Apple Valley, Dakota County. He was attending college at the University of Minnesota in the twin cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul in Minnesota when he passed away on October 21, 2023.
At 2:40 a.m. that day, Sumith left the university’s resident hall on 17th Avenue Southeast in Minneapolis. He was wearing a black puffy jacket, black pants and white shoes.
That was the last time Sumith was seen alive. On October 22, 2023, he was reported missing.
On October 29, 2023, Sumith’s family contacted Bruce’s Legacy, a volunteer organization that provides search and recovery operations. The organization worked with the patrol unit of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and searched the Mississippi River.
Soon after, Sumith’s body was found. Details about the circumstances of his death have yet to be released.
