Logan Michael Halstead of Headland, Henry County, Alabama, United States has died. He was 19.

Halstead suffered spinal bifida and other medical issues. He is one of the three children of Michael Shane Halstead, 44, and Karen Tysinger Halstead 43, of Jack, Coffee County, Alabama.

The family rented a house in Headland but moved away in September 2023 before the property owner sold it. After Logan’s death, Michael and Karen moved to Jack.

On October 11, 2023, Michael alerted the Headland Police Department that he abandoned Logan’s remains in a non-working freezer. Officers went to their previous residence in Headland but failed to find Logan’s body.

On the same day, Michael was arrested and jailed in Dothan, Houston County, Alabama after failing to show up for court on domestic violence charges. On October 21, 2023, he was released.

On October 29, 2023, the new owners of the house in Headland were cleaning up the property when they stumbled upon an old freezer concealing Logan’s body, which was badly decomposed. That day, Michael and Karen were arrested in Jack.

Michael and Karen were each charged with abuse of a corpse and they are being held in jail without bond. The Alabama Department of Human Resources took custody of theirs two other children, who are twins.

On October 30, 2023, Michael and Karen attended a court hearing. He testified that she had nothing to do with disposing of Logan’s body.
