Timothoes Mikhael Powell, 29, of Holly Hill, Volusia County, Florida, United States used to live in Ruther Glen, Caroline County, Virginia, USA. He is currently in jail.
Recently, Powell baby sat a boy, 2, while the boy’s mother was at work. The mother is Powell’s cousin.
On October 17, 2023, the boy was brought in to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Volusia County for treatment for a cut to his penis, which caused bleeding. Surveillance video showed Powell changing the boy’s diaper.
Initially, Powell claimed that he found a piece of glass in the diaper and believed it cut the boy. Later, the Holly Hill man said he lost his temper and forcibly pulled down on the boy, hurting the child.
The staff at the hospital informed Florida Department of Children and Families investigator about the boy Powell babysat. On October 21, 2023, the investigator enlisted the help of the Holly Hill Police Department.
According to a DCF nurse, the cut in the boy’s penis had to have been inflicted by someone who may have tried to circumcise the boy. A doctor agreed and said the wound was too clean and precise to be accidental.
On October 30, 2023, Powell was arrested and charged with felony child abuse. Bond for the Holly Hill resident was set at $100,000.
On November 21, 2023, Powell will be arraigned. He has yet to enter a plea in the case.
