Jose Alexis Reyes-Gonzalez, 28, of Immokalee, Collier County, Florida, United States has a Kik account. He is accused of transmitting child pornography via the freeware instant messaging mobile app.

Kik’s features preserve users’ anonymity. Using a smartphone’s internet connection, the app transmits and receives messages, photos, videos, sketches, mobile web pages and other content after users register a username.

Developed by MediaLab AI, Inc., Kik is available on iOS and Android operating systems. The app was initially released on October 19, 2010.

Recently, the Inter-agency Child Exploitation and Persons Trafficking (INTERCEPT) Task Force received a cybertip from Kik about the transmission of child pornography. After a two-month investigation, Collier County Sheriff’s Office detectives executed a search warrant of Reyes-Gonzalez’s residence in Immokalee.

On November 2, 2023, Reyes-Gonzalez was arrested. His digital devices were taken for a forensic review.

Reyes-Gonzalez was charged with two counts of transmission of child pornography, two counts of sexual activities involving animals and 15 counts of possession of child pornography. More charges are expected.

Immokalee is home to WCIW-LP, a radio station that broadcasts news, public affairs and music to listeners in Spanish, Haitian Creole and several indigenous languages. National Football League player D’Ernest Johnson Jr., 27, was born there.

Migrant workers have worked the fields of Immokalee for decades, harvesting eggplants, oranges, peppers, tomatoes and other produce shipped across the U.S. Their story was told in Samuel George‘s documentary film “The Fields of Immokalee“.
