A male teacher at Lake Mountain Middle School in Saratoga Springs, Utah, United States is accused of being racist. On October 24, 2023, he allegedly compared a Japanese-American male student, 12, to Kim Jong Un, 41, the supreme leader of North Korea.

The teacher was new to the class. According to the student, the teacher put up a large photo of Kim on the projector and told the student, “Hey, he looks like you.”

Afterwards, the teacher allegedly asked the student’s classmates if they agreed. Some of the students allegedly laughed.

Days later, the student told his father what the teacher did. When the father talked to the Lake Mountain Middle School principal, the principal said the school was investigating his son’s allegations and the teacher in question would make a public apology in front of the class.

Originally from Japan, the father moved to the U.S. to attend college. The names of the father and his son’s teacher were not released.
