Dylan Miller, 28, of Colorado, United States is no longer a police officer in Loveland, Larimer County, Colorado. In September 2020, he joined the police department of Durango, La Plata County, Colorado.
On March 1, 2022, Miller applied for a job in the Loveland Police Department. He left the Durango Police Department and was hired by the Loveland Police Department on May 28, 2022.
One evening in July 2023, Miller was on duty as a Loveland Police Department officer when he stopped a car that a girl, 15, was in. Later that night, he saw her with a friend at North Lake Park in Loveland.
According to the girl, Miller asked her friend to leave. After the friend left, the officer allegedly took the girl to a secluded area at the park and sexually assaulted her there.
On July 28, 2023, Miller entered pre-service training. On October 23, 2023, the family of the girl he allegedly sexually assaulted in July 2023 contacted the Loveland Police Department, which turned the investigation over to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
On October 27, 2023, the department placed Miller on leave. On November 6, 2023, the department fired him.
Miller was arrested and booked into the Larimer County Jail in Fort Collins, Larimer County. He faces for four felonies namely first-degree kidnapping, sexual assault on a child from a person in a position of trust and sexual assault and two misdemeanors namely first-degree official misconduct and official oppression.
If convicted of at least one of the felonies, Miller would lose his police certification. He will also be prohibited from serving as a law enforcement officer in Colorado.
