Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago 2023 Marion Faith Gillezeau, 25, is a squash player and a pharmacist. Hailing from San Fernando West, Trinidad and Tobago, she shared, “I’m happiest when I can spend time interacting with people of varying cultures and learning from their experiences.”
Trinidad and Tobago is home to rapper Nicki Minaj, 40, chef and musician Roger Mooking, 49, and beauty queens Janelle Commissiong, 70, and Wendy Fitzwilliam, 51. The Caribbean country ‘s food is influenced by American, Amerindian, Chinese, Creole, European, Indian-South Asian, Latin American and West African culinary styles.
“I can’t live without good food and new experiences,” Gillezeau said. As a pharmacist, she wants to expand her social advocacy aimed at educating and informing children about the benefits of diet and exercise in mitigating their risk of chronic disease.
In 2008, Gillezeau started representing Trinidad and Tobago as a national squash athlete. From September 2017 to May 2021, she attended the University of the West Indies in St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago where she earned her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy.
On July 2, 2023, Gillezeau represented San Fernando West at Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago 2023 and competed against 10 other candidates at Queen’s Hall in the Port of Spain. She won the crown.
On November 18, 2023, Gillezeau will represent Trinidad and Tobago at Miss Universe 2023 at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador. She will compete against 84 other candidates including her fellow Caribbean beauty queens Melissa Ingraham, 26, of the Bahamas, Mariana Downing, 27, of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Jordanne Levy, 27, of Jamaica and Earlyca Frederick, 25, of Saint Lucia.
If Gillezeau wins, she will be the third Miss Universe from Trinidad and Tobago. Representing the Caribbean country, Commissiong and Fitzwilliam won the title in 1977 and in 1998, respectively.
