Fred Cobley, 43, Michael Sanchez, 39, of Joshua Candelaria, 37, are residents of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, United States. Zachary Thompson, 20, is from Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico.

On November 2, 2023, the New Mexico State Police arrested Cobley, Sanchez, Candelaria and Thompson in Albuquerque and booked them into the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque. The arrests were part of proactive operations involving the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, the Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office and the New Mexico State Police’s crime suppression unit, uniform bureau and tactical team.

Cobley was in possession of around 2 ounces of methamphetamine when he was arrested. He is facing drug-related charges.

Sanchez was arrested on a felony warrant. He was in possession of around 12 grams of fentanyl during his arrest.

During Candelaria’s arrest, he was in a stolen vehicle driven by a woman. When agents approached the vehicle, the woman fled on foot, Candelaria got into the driver’s seat and tried to escape.

After Candelaria pulled out a stolen handgun from his waistband, officers shot a lethal beanbag round into the vehicle. He put the handgun down and peacefully surrendered to the officers.

A stolen handgun was found in Thompson’s pocket when he was arrested. He was a suspect in several burglaries and crimes in Roswell.
