Kenzie VanArsdale, 18, of Mount Washington, Bullitt County, Kentucky, United States previously lived in Jeffersontown, Jefferson County, Kentucky. She attended Bullitt East High School in Mt. Washington.
At around 6:00 a.m. on November 4, 2023, Mt. Washington Police Department officer Mark Bramer when unlocked Lindsey Duvall Park in Mt. Washington and found VanArsdale inside the park. Initially, she was compliant and she came to his vehicle.
When Bramer asked to see VanArsdale’s identification, she fled on foot. After running two streets, she stopped and put her hands in the air.
While Bramer was trying to place VanArsdale in handcuffs when she spun around with a screwdriver and stabbed her nearly 3 inches above his left eye. After being stabbed, he was able to detain her.
At 8:42 a.m., VanArsdale was booked into the Bullitt County Detention Center in Shepherdsville, Bullitt County. She was charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.
Bramer was treated at the University of Louisville (UofL) Hospital in Louisville, Jefferson County. He has been released from the hospital.
Mount Vernon was formally established in 1822. It was renamed Mt. Washington when it was incorporated as a city in 1833.
